Here's the thing: most SMA inverter problems in the field are not caused by the inverter itself. They are caused by what happened before installation—the wrong model, the wrong spec, or the wrong backup assumption. I've been a solar integrator for six years, and I've personally documented 11 mistakes across about 90 orders. Those mistakes totaled roughly $6,700 in restocking fees, extra trips, and one very uncomfortable customer meeting.
This is the checklist I now use before I commit to any SMA inverter order.
